Does Surrogate Pay Cover Maternity Clothes?
Yes. When you receive your compensation, surrogate maternity clothes are covered in your additional expenses. This surrogate pay will be paid to you at the beginning of the second trimester. You'll receive $750 for maternity clothes. If you're carrying twins, you'll be eligible for $1,000.
“Coming into this as a surrogate, I didn’t realize there were additional benefits on top of base pay,” said Tasha, a former surrogate and one of our surrogacy specialists. “Things like a maternity clothing allowance, medical screening, additional clearance screenings, embryo transfer, etc. For some surrogates I’ve talked with, it kind of blows their mind. They didn’t realize they’d be getting all these additional things.”
Surrogate pay recognizes the valuable gift you provide by carrying a child for intended parents. This financial support isn’t just for the physical effort but also for the emotional commitment and time invested in the process.

Can You Negotiate Your Surrogate Compensation?
Yes. At American Surrogacy, we believe surrogates should have a voice in their compensation. Unlike agencies that offer fixed packages, we work with you to create a package that reflects your unique circumstances and needs.
"We try to meet the surrogate where she's at," said Katie, one of our surrogacy specialists. "It's what she asks for and feels is fair for her circumstances — whatever she feels is going to make this worth her effort and sacrifice. We're open to meeting what she wants."
The best time to discuss your compensation needs is during the contract phase. This is when you can advocate for yourself and ensure the agreement reflects what you need to feel supported throughout your journey.

The surrogacy pay you receive can significantly impact your family’s life. You can use your compensation to pay for things like family vacations, a down payment on a home or a college fund for your kids. Through this pay, you and your family will be supported.
“The compensation I received from being a surrogate helped me to alleviate day-to-day stresses," said Jade, a former surrogate. "I was able to be more present with my kids, and that was, to me, the biggest thing. I was able to go on vacations with them. If I needed to take off time from work, I wasn’t as stressed about it.”
